Assessment Process
Initial Screening Using the Phil-IRI Group Screening Test
Students are presented with grade-appropriate reading materials and a 40-item multiple choice test that must accomplish for 60 minutes.
Administration of the Phil-IRI Graded Passage/ Individualized Assessment (Pretest)
Students scoring below 28 on the raw score require additional assessment of their word reading and comprehension skills to determine their precise reading level.
Provision of Specialized Instruction / Intervention
Student reading performance data informs the design of intervention programs, such as remedial reading, and guides adjustments to classroom instruction.
Administration of the Phil-IRI Graded Passage/Individualized Assessment (Posttest)
The test administrator uses graded reading passages to determine the student's independent, instructional, and frustration reading levels, both before and after the intervention. Post-test scores are then compared to pre-test scores.
